Who we are
The Aesthete Academy publishes interior design courses at theaestheteacademy.com. The data controller is [COMPANY NAME], [registration number], [registered address], [country]. You can reach us at hello@theaestheteacademy.com.
What we collect, and why
When you request the masterlist
We store your email address and the date you asked for it. We use it to send you the file, one follow-up message a few days later, and news about enrolment. Nothing else. The legal basis is your consent, given when you enter your address.
When you buy a programme
We collect your name, email address and billing details. Payment card details are handled by our payment provider and never reach our servers. We keep order records because tax law requires it. The legal basis is performance of our contract with you, and legal obligation for the records themselves.
While you study
We record which lessons you have completed, your quiz results, and any work you upload for review. This is what makes progress tracking, certificates and tutor feedback possible. The legal basis is performance of our contract with you.
Work you upload is stored privately. It is visible to you and to teaching staff, and it is not published or shown to other students unless you ask us to.
When you take part in a lesson discussion
Your display name and comment are stored and visible to other students enrolled in the same programme. Discussions are not public and are not indexed by search engines.
Automatically
Our host records standard server logs, including IP addresses, for security and troubleshooting.
Cookies
We set a cookie to remember your cookie choice, and cookies that keep you signed in and keep your basket working. These are necessary for the site to function.
We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used. It is not loaded until you accept it. If you decline, no analytics cookies are set and no data is sent. You can change your mind at any time using the Cookie settings link in the footer.
Who else sees your data
- Our host stores the site and its database, and delivers our email.
- Our payment provider processes payments and holds the card details we never see.
- Google Analytics receives usage data, only if you have accepted analytics cookies.
- Gravatar, a service operated by Automattic, may receive a hashed version of your email address in order to display a profile picture.
We do not sell your data, and we do not share it for anyone else’s marketing.
How long we keep it
- Waitlist addresses until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove you.
- Course records and progress for as long as your account exists, so you can return to a programme you paid for.
- Uploaded work for as long as your account exists, or until you ask us to delete it.
- Order records for the period required by accounting law.
Your rights
If you are in the European Union or the United Kingdom you can ask us for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, object to how we use it, or ask us to send it elsewhere. Write to hello@theaestheteacademy.com and we will respond within one month.
You can unsubscribe from any email using the link in that email, or by replying and asking.
If you think we have handled your data badly, you can complain to your national data protection authority. In Latvia this is the Data State Inspectorate.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top. If the change is significant we will tell the people it affects by email.
